Car Erupts into Securities Office in Shanghai, 17 Injured

Seventeen people were injured, two seriously, after an out-of-control car burst into a securities trading office in Shanghai on Friday morning.

The accident took place at about 10 AM at a Shanghai branch of Zhongshan Securities Co., when a Volvo sedan smashed through the plate glass windows on the ground floor and came to a stop in the middle of the office, witnesses said.

All of the injured people were rushed to a nearby Zhongshan Hospital and two are still being treated for severe injuries. The other 15 people have been discharged.

Police investigations show that the driver of the sedan, a security guard of the company, was parking the Volvo for a customer.

The accident is being further investigated.
