Cao Yuya, a girl who devoted one of her kidney to save her dying father, was recently enrolled by a polytechnic school in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Cao was awarded 20 scores for her sympathy during the national university entrance exam to attain the required marks and was admitted by the Chengdu Textile Polytechinic College, the Beijing News reported on Sunday.

Despite family opposition, Cao devoted one of her kidney to save his father on Jan. 17, 2007 after her father, a worker who worked in southeast China's Fujian Province, was diagnosed as uremia in November 2006.

Cao was an excellent student in her school in Guang'an City of Sichuan Province, but did not do very well in the national university entrance exam as she had missed many lessons due to taking care of her father, sources with the school was quoted as saying.

The Chengdu Textile Polytechnic College has decided to exempt Cao from three years' tuitions since Cao's family still need to pay debts borrowed for her father's surgery charges, according to the college vice-president Yun Ximing.
