More than 400,000 Chinese citizens, among the 1.3 billion total population, share the same given name -- "Guoqing," which literally means "National Day," government data said.
The Chinese capital alone registers 6,589 citizens with the name "Guoqing," according to the data released by the National Citizen Identity Information Center under the Ministry of Public Security.
Those people may have different family names, such as "Li Guoqing," "Sun Guoqing," or "Cai Guoqing." But in the meantime, another 1,894 people were found to have the same family name "Guo" and share one full name "Guo Qing," the data said.
The whole country is marking the 58th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China with week-long celebrations starting from Oct. 1.
