Rescuers were still searching for two missing miners on Thursday after a cave-in at a coal mine in north China's Hebei Province killed six.

The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a mine belonging to Heishigou Coal Mining Co. Ltd in Yuxian County. Nine miners were working underground at the time of the collapse, the provincial coal mine safety administration said on Thursday.

One miner escaped unharmed while eight were trapped.

The mine was still under construction when the cave-in occurred.

The cause of the accident was being investigated.
