Second Forum on Network Media of China opened Friday in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, with participation in the three-day conference from more than 300 government officials, media and Internet leaders, and experts.

The forum focuses on Internet operations, management and development trends, new technology applications and how to utilize the Internet as a news and media source.

An agreement pledging the protection of Internet copyrights will be signed to fight plagiarism and standardize information exchanges.

Cai Mingzhao, deputy director of the Information Office of the State Council, Wang Chen, chief editor of People's Daily, China's Party newspaper, and Shao Huaze, Chairman of the All-China Journalists Association delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

The forum is cohosted by the All-China Journalists Association, people.com.cn, xinhuanet.com, china.org.cn, chinadaily.com.cn, CNNIC, China Internet Association and other websites from across the country.

China has over 45.8 million Internet users today.

The first forum on the Internet and media was held last year in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
