Vice-Premier Wu Yi has called for the immediate establishment of a national medical emergency mechanism, with emphasis placed on a public health information system and an early warning reporting mechanism.
Currently, top priority should be given to the control of severe acute respiratory syndrome, Wu said during a recent visit to the China Disease Control Center.
