Chinese President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Hu Jintao, conveyed condolence messages Saturday to the families of Navy sailors killed in a submarine accident on Friday.
He said the accident of the No. 361 submarine had been a great loss to the Navy of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). He extolled the bravery of all 70 sailors aboard, whose behavior had proved their true patriotism.
Hu said people should turn their mourning to a source of strength by learning from the accident to advance the country's national defense capacity and speed the PLA's modernization drive.
