Hong Kong to Hold Open Forum for DC Elections
Hong Kong Electoral Affairs Commission will hold an open forum on May 19 for members of the public to voice their views on its proposed electoral guidelines on district councils (DC) elections.

A spokesman for the Commission on Sunday invited interested parties to take part in the forum and make their views known.

"We will consider their views carefully as we finalize the guidelines, which candidates, agents, electors, media and members of the public have to follow," the spokesman said.

The forum will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the commission’s conference room.

He also reminded the public of the deadline for written representations on May 27.

Representations can be sent in person or by post to the Secretariat of the Commission, or by fax and e-mail.

The Commission released the proposed guidelines on April 28 for public consultation.

Meanwhile, it has put forward a number of initiatives, with a view to enhancing efficiency and saving resources in conduct of district councils elections.

The district councils elections are scheduled to be held in this November.
