53 Missing in Shipwreck on Yangtze River
As of Friday evening, fifty-three people are confirmed missing, 12 survived and three died in the June 19 ship collision on the Yangtze River, according to local authorities.

The salvage company has taken equipment to the scene of the accident but postponed work due to heavy fog. The location of the sunken ferry was not known.

On Thursday morning, a passenger liner, belonging to Yangtze River Three Gorges Shipping Co., Ltd., was sailing downstream when it collided with a freighter going upstream near Longqiao Town, Fuling District of Chongqing Municipality.

The cause of the accident was still being investigated and rescue operations were underway.
