China's First Aerospace Biology Industrialization Base Founded in Beijing

Dongfanghong (East Is Red) Aerospace Biology Industrialization Base, the first of its kind in China with the world advanced level, was established in Beijing on September 28.

Aerospace biology is to send such biological specimens as plant seeds and microorganism fungus into the space by retrievable spaceships to promote growth and variation of specimens in the unique space environment that cannot be imitated on earth. And then they are bred on the ground, select excellent ones and put them into production on a large scale.

As one of the three world strongest countries in aeronautic and space flight, China has made more than 500 such experiments on nine satellites and two spaceships. It has got plenty of new varieties and new seed resources of which the space breeding in agriculture, microorganism and medicinal fungus are at the leading level of the world.

However, either in China or in the world, most of such experimentation has for a long time been achieved by relying on labs. Dongfanghong Aeronautic Biology Industrialization Base, known as China's aeronautic biology technology incubator that has been established as required by the objective situation, will spread the technologies and be operated on a large scale. Under the control of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, the base, by means of large biological experimental center, test workshops, and standard GMP production workshops in service, has formed a streamlined system in production including experiments, researches, designs, trial-production and production phases.
