Waste newspapers can be used to trade for quality office paper from March in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, according to a Beijing Youth Daily report.
Citizens can contact the Guangzhou Resource Recycle Center to specify items to be replaced. The center will send personnel to check the amount of items to be replaced and trade the waste for office papers at the same value.
The new move, part of a waste item replacement campaign, is extended to institutions and organizations in the first stage. It will serve family and individual demands later this year.
Local sources say that items that can be traded at present are confined to waste paper. Waste glass and plastics will also be incorporated into the program.
Relevant departments are preparing to construct a waste replacement website and develop user identification card used for logging in the website.
