A reception was held in Beijing Tuesday to celebrate the signing of the Sino-Russian good-neighborly treaty of friendship and cooperation.
The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China-Russia Association for Friendship hosted the reception.
Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, addressed the reception. He said that the signing of the treaty is a milestone for Sino- Russian relations, and the CPAFFC and CRAF will continue to promote contacts between the two peoples to lay a solid foundation for the development of bilateral ties.
Chen said that the CPAFFC will develop unofficial contact with Russia according to the four proposals advocated by Chinese President Jiang Zemin in a speech delivered at Moscow University in July this year.
The four proposals are: to strengthen political mutual trust and consolidate the cornerstone of the Sino-Russian good- neighborly friendship; to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and reinforce the dynamics of common development; to enhance cultural exchanges and boost the friendship between the two peoples; and to deepen bilateral strategic collaboration and make joint efforts toward world peace and development.
Jiang and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Sino- Russian good-neighborly treaty of friendship and cooperation, which is a guiding document for Sino-Russian relations in the 21st century, in Moscow on July 16.
