Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met in Beijing Wednesday with Wim Duisenberg, president of the European Central Bank.
Zhu gave the bank president details of China's national financial working conference held at the beginning of this year and exchanged views with him on the world's economic and financial situation, the circulation of the euro and other issues.
He said he hoped that the People's Bank of China (PBOC) and the European Central Bank would increase cooperation in the fields of monetary policies, investment and management of foreign exchange reserves, information and personnel exchange and training and in other areas.
Duisenberg is on a visit to China at the invitation of the PBOC.
