China's capital Beijing and Houston in the United States have vast potential for cooperation over high-tech and education and could strengthen future exchanges in these fields, said a senior Chinese official Friday.
Jia Qinglin, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, made the remark while meeting a delegation from Houston in the US State of Texas.
Houston Mayor Lee Brown, who is here to attend the on-going 5th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, said that three agreements on educational cooperation had been signed with Beijing during this visit.
He said he had also learned about airport and port construction and personnel training during the visit, and bilateral contacts would be closer in the future.
