Afghan leader Hamid Karzai postponed announcing his list of names for key cabinet members in the transitional administration to the Loya Jirga Tuesday.
"The cabinet is almost done, but I need more consultations and more precision because it's an issue that involves the rights of Afghan ethnic groups," he told the Loya Jirga.
"If you want to create a proper cabinet you should give us more time."
Karzai told the grand assembly he would present his list Wednesday. With the Loya Jirga already running two days overdue, Karzai told 1,650 delegates that he needed more time to " contemplate matters" and pick the right ministers for the cabinet during the upcoming 18-month transitional government.
