A total of 10,034 Chinese policemen have been suspended from duties for breach of disciplines in the past nine years, the Ministry of Public Security announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
In addition, 5,856 policemen who had violated disciplines were placed in confinement by the supervision departments of the public security organs across the country over the past nine years.
According to the ministry, the supervision departments have accepted 650,000 complaints and reports on police misbehavior in the nine-year period, and have investigated and handled more than 1.3 million relevant cases.
So far, a total of 2,808 supervision departments have been set up in the public security organs across China with nearly 9,000 supervisors in service.
