Fifty-one-year-old He Lifeng was re-elected secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s Xiamen Committee on Thursday.
He was re-elected to his post at the first plenary session of the east China city's tenth CPC committee. Zhang Changping, Chen Bingfa and Huang Jie were elected vice secretaries at the same time.
He worked as deputy mayor of Xiamen from 1992 to 1995 and then served as mayor as well as Communist Party chief of Quanzhou, a large port city in Fujian Province.
He was elected Communist Party chief in Xiamen in May 2005.
Xiamen is one of China's first Special Economic Zones and is one of the mainland cities that has most contacts with Taiwan.
