Two Million Foreigners Come to China for Business, Conferences Last Year

The year 2001 witnessed 1.98 million foreigners coming to China for conferences and business activities, accounting for 17.68 percent of the total number of foreigners who arrived in China last year.

The year 2001 witnessed 1.98 million foreigners coming to China for conferences and business activities, accounting for 17.68 percent of the total number of foreigners who arrived in China last year.

Statistics issued Monday by the Exit-Entry Administration of the Public Security Ministry show that about 22 million foreigners from 239 countries and regions entered and left China in 2001, up 10.49 percent from the figure for 2000.

The top ten countries with the most travelers to China were Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Mongolia, Thailand, and Britain.
