The cellist called the world's sexiest classical musician by "People" magazine is returning to Shanghai. Yo-Yo Ma will play Dvorak's Violincello Concerto in B minor.
"It is much more difficult compared with the other work Ma prepared for the tour. We feel it represents a better artistic level, and the Shanghai audience look forward to hearing him play concertos, so we asked Ma to play Dvorak in Shanghai," said Hu Yongyan, director of the Shanghai Broadcast Symphany Orchestra.
Shanghai is the first leg of Ma's Asian tour. After the Shanghai performance, Ma will give three other concerts in Hong Kong, Taipei and Seoul.
The Shanghai Broadcast Symphony Orchestra which will accompany Ma in Shanghai, will also participate in Ma's performance in Seoul.
Ma will give a lecture to local cellists during his stay in Shanghai.
