Food product complaints stand at the top of the list of consumer grievances released by the General Administration for Industry and Commerce recently, Beijing Morning News reported Friday.
The list, released before March 15, the Day of Consumer Rights, specified the ten products or industrial lines most complained about by consumers last year.
With regard to food complaints, which totaled 83,235, violations against consumer rights mainly covered activities like making poisonous or harmful products, selling products out of shelf life or children's food without safety warnings.
Three other items, namely mobile phones, commercial housing and automobiles, saw a considerable increase in consumer complaints last year, the paper said.
Also increasingly troublesome were beauty and barber parlors, tourist agencies, consuming cards, fake or shoddy agricultural materials and inveracious agencies.
