Project Name: National Indoor Stadium and Olympic Village
Project Legal Person: Beijing Guoao Investment Development Co. Ltd (preparing). The predecessor of the company is association of Beijing Urban Construction Investment Development Co., Ltd. On November 18, 2003, Beijing Urban Construction Investment Development Co. Ltd association signed agreements with Beijing municipal government and Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and became juridical person of the National Indoor Stadium Project and the Olympic Village Project. Later the company has established Beijing Guoao Investment Development Co. Ltd. (under preparing) to take charge of the design, financing and investment, construction, operation and handover of the National Indoor Stadium and the Olympic Village. The shareholders consist of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd. Beijing Urban Development Co. Ltd, Tianhong Group, CITIC Guoan Group and Beijing Enterprise Holding Limited.
Project Venue: The National Indoor Stadium sits in the south of the Olympic Center. The Olympic Village is located in the northwest of the Olympic Green.
Construction Scale: The planned area of the National Indoor Stadium is about 81,000 square meters and the Olympic Village is 27.5 hectares.
Construction Schedule: The National Indoor Stadium is planned to start construction in the first half of 2005 and complete construction in October 2007. The Olympic Village plans to start construction in the first half of 2005 and complete in December 2007.
Project Purpose: The National Indoor Stadium will undertake events such as gymnastics (sports) handball and wheelchair basketball of the Paralympic Games. The Olympic Village is divided into residential section and international section. During the Olympic Games, the residential section will house sportspersons and officers while offer relative services and facilities such as sportsperson clinic, local delicacy restaurants, recreation center and body shaping centers. During the Paralympic Games, the Olympic Village will meet requirements such as accommodation, living, training, leisure and recreation of sportspersons and officers. The international section will offer services for sportspersons and officers with sportsperson canteen, village director office, shopping center, logistics center and certificate making center. It is also main area for sportspersons to have social life, receiving guests and leisure activities.
Utilization After Olympic Games: International Indoor Stadium: With various large-scale sports events and cultural programs as the leading businesses, the National Indoor Stadium will serve the middle and top grade customer groups with leisure and recreation programs, catering, shopping, international sports education institutes, tourism, facility leasing and exhibition as supplementary purposes. Based on the National Indoor Stadium, the future operation will involve in the sports industry including sports event, leisure sports, sports product marketing, sports facility construction and other related sports products. Olympic Village: after the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, the major part of the international section of the village will be changed into green while the buildings with special commemorative meaning will be reserved as Olympic cultural heritage. Part of the residential section will be changed into a high quality comfortable community with low density and sustained development features.
Project Progress: Preparations are making before the starting of construction.
