During the 2000 West Lake Exposition, the picturesque city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province acquired many beautiful sculptures by over 50 well-known Chinese and foreign artists, adding even more charm to the city.
During the exposition, the Chinese and foreign sculptors relied on their understanding of West Lake and its surroundings to create works on the themes of hills, rivers, and personages, using varied materials and techniques, both realistic and abstract. The sculptures embody urban people's love for nature, their desire to return to nature, and their concern for the protection of their surroundings.
Although the sculptors have different cultural backgrounds, they share a love for nature and a concern for the environment, and their sculptures are in harmony with the beautiful West Lake.
