Shanghai will build the first museum of audio products next year near the Hengshan Road in central downtown's Xuhui District, Shanghai Morning Post reported.
The museum will be built rounded by green lands in the Xujiahui Park, a new park now under construction along the Hengshan Road.
It will be developed from an old building of the China Record Corp Shanghai company built in 1930s. When the company moved out of the place last week to make room for the new park, all its building complex were pulled down with explosives except for this single construction which was deemed to have historical and architectural value to be preserved.
The city will start next June to build the old architecture into a museum of nearly a thousand square meters, Xuhui District government planned, where visitors will have the chance to appreciate generations of audio products in Shanghai.
The Xujiahui Park of 6.8 hectares, designed to connect the renowned Hengshan Road and the Xujiahui commercial center with nature, will be initially finished next June to open to the public.
