East China's Jiangsu Province will build a software industrial belt along the Yangtze River, with Jiangsu Software Park at the center and more software parks to be built in all major cities along the Yangtze.
The Jiangsu Software Park, based in this provincial capital, was recently inaugurated as one of China's ten major software industrial bases.
The park takes up 120,000 square meters and boasts 165 software enterprises. With focus on telecommunications, network security, E-commerce and other application software, it will become a major base for the expansion of software companies, software exports and training of professionals.
Sources here say the Jiangsu provincial government will inject an annual investment of 50 million yuan (US$6 million) to foster the construction and key projects of the park in the coming five years. Meanwhile, venture capital companies in the province will invest 70 million yuan (US$8.4 million) each year to boost software development and integrated circuit design.
Statistics show that software industry in Jiangsu Province yielded 2.3 billion yuan (US$277 million) of revenue last year, one tenth of the country's total.
