The first Women's Catharsis Club in China opened in Chongqing on Wednesday, November 22, 2006. Women are welcome to visit for free.

"We will never need to hold back our pent-up anger any more!" Women shout as they kick a rubber statue at the new Chongqing Women's Catharsis Club, the first of its kind in China.

The local Women's Federation branch reports the club, which opened on Wednesday, will serve local women for free in the near future.

The Chongqing Women's Catharsis Club has two rubber statues with "depression" and "domestic violence" engraved on their chest. Women are encouraged to take their anger out on the statues or any of the punching bags dotted around the 20 square meters that comprise the grounds of the club. They are also welcome to relax to the soothing music that is piped around the club.

"Many women wish to relax themselves without hurting somebody," a Women's Federation official said. "They want to find someone to talk to, or vent to their anger."
