The Chinese People's Armed Police Force will began to use new vehicle license plates and driver licenses from May 1, replacing the old license plates which have been used since 1999.
The pattern of the new license plates marks a remarkable aesthetic departure from the old ones, with characters printed onto the plates in different sizes. The force's logo has been used as space marks.
Abbreviations, in Pinyin, have replaced the Chinese characters used to differentiate the different varieties of police force. Meanwhile, different number plates will be allocated, to distinguish between small and large vehicles.
