Musical to Replay Teresa Teng's Life


A musical play describing the life of renowned Chinese pop singer Teresa Teng is to be staged in Hong Kong in July, the play's director said Tuesday.

As part of the activities marking the seven-year anniversary ofTeng's death, the musical play is based mostly on true stories and named after one of Teng's most famous songs "Forever", the director noted.

Teng's brother Jim Teng pointed out that, the two-and-a-half-hour play would enable audience to get to know more about the 42-year life of the pop singer.

The play is to be run from July 25 to August 25 with a total of 25 shows. Characters in the play include Teng's parents and boy friends, with Joanna Xiang, Sinji Lee and Cass Pang playing TeresaTeng in her childhood, adolescence and maturing age respectively.

Born in China's Taiwan in 1963, Teresa began singing at the age of six. After selling millions of records, she retired in France in the early 1990s. She died from asthma in 1995 while on a holiday in Thailand.
