Thank you for your interest in the detail of the images on Chinese currency RMB notes. There are two Images each depicting Chinese ethnic groups on the one jiao, two jiao, five jiao and one yuan, two yuan, and five yuan to ten yuan notes.
The left-hand image on the one jiao note is related to the Gaoshan ethnic minority located in Taiwan and Fujian provinces, with a current population of 300,000. The right-hand image is from the Manchu ethnic minority mainly located in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei provinces and in Beijing.
The left-hand image on two jiao note depicts the Bouyei ethnic minority in Guizhou Province, with a population of 2.45 million. The right-hand one is of the Korean ethnic minority mainly located in Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces, with a population of 1.9 million
The left-hand image on five jiao note shows the Miao ethnic minority from Guizhou, Yunnan, Hunan, Sichuan provinces and Guanxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with a population of 7.38 million. The right-hand image is from the Zhuang ethnic minority, with a population of 15 million scattered across Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province.
The left-hand image on one yuan note is from the Yao ethnic minority located in Hunan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (population 2.13 million), while the right-hand image shows the Dong ethnic minority of 2.5 million people in Guizhou, Hunan provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The left-hand image on the two yuan note is from the Yi ethnic minority, located in Sichuan, Yunnan with a total population of 6.57 million. The right-hand one depicts the Uygur ethnic minority in Xijiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Hunan Province that has a population of 7.2 million.
The left-hand image on five yuan note is from the Hui ethnic minority, located in Gansu, Henan, Qinghai, Yunan, Hebei, Liaoning, Shaanxi provinces, the Ningxia Hui and Xinjiang Uygar autonomous regions and Beijing and Tianjin cities, with a population of 8,612,000. The right-hand one from the Tibetan ethnic minority, 4.59 people living in the Tibet Autonomous Region as well as Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan provinces.
The left-hand image on ten yuan note is from the Mongolian ethnic minority in Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang Uyguar autonomous regions as well as Jilin, Heilongjiang and Qinghai provinces with a total population of 4,802,400. The right-hand image represents the Han nationality.
