Members of the World Trade Organization have given a positive evaluation on China's implementation of undertakings concerning intellectual property rights (IPRs), the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation said Wednesday.
At a recent evaluation meeting held by the WTO Council for Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, the United States, the European Union and other major WTO members asked questions and made comments. Some members hoped China would make more efforts to enforce laws relating to IPRs.
Chinese Ambassador to the WTO Sun Zhenyu led a delegation to the meeting and delivered a speech on the development in China's IPR-related legislation and law enforcement, the ministry said.
Prior to the evaluation, the Chinese delegation submitted a report on Chinese laws and regulations on IPRs to the WTO and answered written questions from the United States, the European Union, Japan and other WTO members.
In accordance with the commitments undertaken by China, the WTO will make an annual evaluation of China's implementation of WTO concessions in the first eight years following its WTO entry.
