Farms in the suburbs of Shanghai are becoming a tourist destination for city dwellers and more than two million Shanghainese traveled from downtown to the suburbs to spend their holidays in farms last year, the Jiefang Daily reported today.
The Sunqiao county, for example, have received more than 600,000 visitors from Shanghai last year and reported a net income of 3 million yuan from tourism.
Analysts said the farms are attractive because visitors on such low-cost trips to nearby counties feel nearer to the nature.
