A tornado Thursday afternoon had toppled 21 construction sheds in Suzhou in eastern China's Jiangsu Province, killing at least six people and injuring 46 others by press time.

Rainstorms brought by the tornado forced more than 150 construction workers in the Suzhou Industrial Park to shelter in their work sheds, which later collapsed on top of them.

Rescue work continues.
