UN Experts Visit Qiang People

A team of UNESCO experts is in Sichuan's Lixian County, visiting Qiang ethnic group villages. They're conducting initial research on environmental protection and sustainable development strategies in the area.

The Qiang people are an ancient ethnic group living in the mountainous areas of southwest China. Nowadays, more and more of them are joining efforts to protect their culture and traditions.

The visiting UN experts were treated hospitably by the Qiang villagers, who gave them a joyful welcome with folk dances and songs.

The UN investigation focuses on protective measures adopted by local residents, developing natural resources and protecting rare species. The research will help promote this area, so it can join the UN Human & Biosphere Protection Organization in the near future.
