Shanghai's movie market has successfully stopped declining, with the ticket house revenue of 132 million yuan (US$16 million) last year, increasing 9 percent from a year before, while the national ticket houses kept sluggish, eastday.com has reported.
The number of stage performances was up to 10,608 last year, the seventh consecutive year to exceed 10,000. According to the Wenhui Daily, driven by "Fatal Decision", a homemade movie, Shanghai's movie market began to revive.
The number of film showings a year reached 170,000, with an audience number of 1,824. The average ticket price in Shanghai is currently up to 7.84 yuan. Some modernized cinemas brought many young people back there. Shanghai welcomed 120 domestic troupes, including more than 30 of central and city-levels.
Shanghai's audiovisual market strictly cracks down on pirates, with more than 90 percent's original products.
