In the next three years, the Tibet Autonomous Region will establish a complete remote sensing technique system for monitoring its environment.
About 20 million yuan will be invested in the project, which will be undertaken by the Meteorological Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
Upon completion, the system will receive data from satellites, for example, the Fengyun Meteorological Satellite of China and the Earth Observation Satellite of the United States. It will also gather and transmit data on land, water, forest and grassland resources across Tibet and observation data on geological disasters, in an effort to supply all kinds of scientific data for protecting the environment in Tibet.
Tibet began in 1989 to utilize the remote sensing technique to monitor its ecological environment, with a great success.
