Mathematician Wu Called for China's Math Prosperity
Wu Wenjun, China's outstanding mathematician said at the International Congress of Mathematicians that China's math workers should not only develop China's math cause but must also revive it.

He said that it would play a vital role in carrying forward China's ancient math achievement and inspire the future development of China's math.

Wu said that China put forward the real number system in the 1st century BC, but Europe did not discover this until the 19th century.

China's ancient math had achieved great success. China has long been in the frontier in math field till the 14th century, but Western mathematicians ignored this, they do not understand nor acknowledge China's great achievement in ancient times and exclude it out of the "math mainstream".

Wu got great instruction from his own study on ancient Chinese math. He summarized China's traditional match concept as mechanized concept.

This study initiated the times of mechanized theory known as "Wu Wenju theory" in the world math field.

In 2001, he got the laurel of China's first high-tech award due to his outstanding contribution in math.
