This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birthday of Lu Xun, one of the greatest Chinese cultural giants of the 20th century. To commemorate him, many publishing houses in China have collected, rearranged and republished his works.
The Complete Works of Lu Xun was published by People’s Literature Press with help from academic circles and Lu Xun’s family in 1981 on the 100th anniversary of Lu Xun’s birthday. However, many of Lu Xun’s published works were unavailable as they were dispersed throughout many domestic and foreign newspapers and magazines. Many of his manuscripts also remained unpublished. Since then, researchers have made much progress in collecting such works, and many more of Lu Xun’s articles have been identified and manuscripts discovered.
Several days ago, The Complete Lost Works of Lu Xun was published by Qunyan Press. The book [in Chinese] contains four sections: writings, letters, translations and appendices. More than 100 articles that cover extensive areas and reflect the changes in Lu Xun’s cultural orientation--including Lu Xun’s earlier works, A Record of China’s Minerals and The Study on Life--are included in the book. The entire book can offer readers new insights into Lu Xun’s life.
