A center has been established in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, to treat and train children with infantile autism, which features difficulty in interpersonal interaction.
Jiang Shuxia, vice mayor of Xiamen City, said that the center has employed professional medical personnel and experienced psychologists to diagnose children's abnormal behaviors and provide corresponding training and treatment.
According to Professor Chen Daguang, a consultant with the center, education and training are the chief therapies for infantile autism.
The vice mayor also revealed that local educational authorities would be commissioned to study how to absorb these children into kindergartens, schools and society after they've received training and treatment.
