Geographical Location Xiaoshan Economic & Technological Development Zone (XETDZ) lies on the south bank of the Qiantang River and to the north of downtown Xiaoshan. It is separated by the Qiantang River from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, and it is 15 kilometers away from the downtown Hangzhou. A 58-meter-wide motorway and a 42-meter-wide one connect the XETDZ with downtown Xiaoshan which is only three kilometers away.
Climate The XETDZ is in a sub-tropical monsoon climate with an annual mean temperature of 16.1 degree centigrade and an annual rainfall of 1,363 millimeters. It enjoys a mild climate and four distinct seasons.
Communication and Transportation Airport The XETDZ is ten kilometers away from Xiaoshan International Airport, the second largest in East China.
Harbor It is 150 kilometers away from both Shanghai and Ningbo Ports, via the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway and the Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway respectively.
Road The Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, the Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway, and State Highway No 104 pass the XETDZ by its outskirts.
Railway The XETDZ is two kilometers away from Xiaoshan Railway Station where the Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway and Xiaoshan-Ningbo Railway meet.
Human Resources Xiaoshan City has over 20 colleges and universities including the Zhejiang University, and more than 30 polytechnic, vocational, and other secondary schools, which provide professionals for every business sector.
Industrial Structure Core industries in the XETDZ range from information electronics, machinery, refined chemicals, building materials, pharmaceuticals, foods, textiles and other light industrial products.
Investment Priorities The XETDZ encourages investment in capital-intensive and technology-intensive industries such as communications electronics, bio-pharmaceuticals, new materials, integrated optic-electric-mechanical products, and others.
