The 2001 All-China Stamp Exhibition is to be held this September in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province. The event is a major event to promote tourism in the city.
Hosted by the State Postal Bureau of China and the Jiangsu provincial government, the exhibition starts on September 21 and will be the largest of its type in China.
This year's exhibition is being staged by the All-China Stamp Federation and Jiangsu Provincial Postal Bureau. Yu Guangzhou, vice-governor of Jiangsu, serves as director of its organization committee.
According to Gu Wen, vice-director of Jiangsu Postal Bureau and general secretary of the organization committee, delegations from around the country will show 1,200 collections of precious stamps during the five-day exhibition.
Additional exhibitions featuring coins and telephone cards, the stamp printing process and mobile communications history will also be staged during the event.
The exhibition will be attended by overseas postal institutions and other companies. Jiangsu today boasts 4,400 stamp collection societies with 310,000 members.
Three of the province's stamp collections have won gold medals in world stamp exhibitions.
It has become a tradition for China to organize national stamp exhibitions.
