Dalian,a coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, plans to build its new symbol,the statue of an oriental woman, dubbed as "New Century Tower".
The statue, to be located in the Dalian Port, will cover 80 hectares and be made of steel structure, according to architects from Beijing-based Tsinghua University.
It will be one of the tallest statues of human body in the world, the experts said, adding that it includes facilities for sightseeing, theatric performance and other tourism purposes.
The project will be funded by the Dalian Shide Group who is the patron of five-time champion of the Chinese Football League -- Dalian Shide Football Team.
The project, with an estimated cost of 300 million yuan, will be built through public bidding, according to Xu Ming, president of the company.
Construction is expected to start next January and complete in two years time.
