China has decided to organize an air police team to increase China's anti-terrorism ability, said Liu Jianfeng, director of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) February 5.
The team is composed with 2000 policemen who are chosen from current air safe guarders by strict sorting and training. Every plane will be escorted with two policemen, their task being to ensure plane and passengers' safety with proper defense weapon.
The plan will be carried out gradually within the year after trial operation.
So far, CAAC has achieved 19 months' safe flights without accidents. CAAC will also lay heavy hands on airport separation and controlling blocks to create a better safe period.
Liu Jianfeng demands that all staffs entering into the separation block must receive safe examination. He also called to regulate courteous treatment to passengers, and airports should be equipped with safe examination facilities including explosion detectors. So far, cargo transportation are rid with potential dangers, safety and other problems and they should be put under strict inspection.
Special Security Corps for Anti-terrorism on Chinese Civil Flights to Be Set Up
Special cops will probably serve on Chinese flights to safeguard airline security and cope with accidents, according to a report by Beijing Youth Daily.
Beijing Youth Daily reported that the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) was brooding over establishing a special squad of about 2000 servicemen subject to the leadership of the Security Bureau of the said CAAC.
After the occurrence of the September 11 terrorist events in the United States, the security of civil aviation has stood out as the most concerned problem worldwide. The CAAC has taken and prepared to take a series of measures, including a notice forbidding any passenger aboard carry with him/her any cutting tools and the ban to check in packages for any unknown passenger.
