Hong Kong's Ocean Park launchedSunday a computer animated film, the first of its kind wholly designed and produced by Hong Kong itself, with the viewers sitting on seats that rock in different directions and degrees in accordance with the scene.
The film Whiskers' Wild Ride promised a simulation ride with special multi-sensory elements, a special design to add new attraction to the 25-year-old Ocean Park. During the film which lasts for four minute and 45 second, Ocean Park's sea lion mascot Whiskers and his five friends would lead audience to "swim, fly, ride and flutter" throughout the Ocean Park.
The 70-million-(HK)dollar project was created by HK-based Centro Digital Pictures, producer of the special effects for the movie "Shaolin Soccer," winner of the 21st Hong Kong Film Awards for "Best Visual Effects" and "Best Picture."
Among those present at the opening of the simulation ride were Secretary for Economic Services of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Sandra Lee and Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Selina Chow.
More than 58 million people have visited the Ocean Park since its opening in January 1977, of which 40 percent came from China's mainland and overseas.
