An exhibition of 60 classic works by well-known Chinese artists opened at the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution Thursday, marking the 60th anniversary of Mao Zedong's landmark speech on literary and art work.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Chinese Artists Association and the China Art Gallery.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Artists Association is staging a series of art shows across the country in conjunction with local artists, and an exhibition on Shanghai's history of literature and arts has opened in Shanghai, also to mark the anniversary.
In the famous speech on the Symposium of Literary and Art Circles held in Yan'an, the headquarters of the Chinese revolution, Mao asked literary and art workers to engage in creative work for the common people.
