Shanghai needs more professional swimming pool designers to improve quality of small pools in residential quarters,Youth Daily reported today.

The number of small-scale swimming pools fast increased in the city?¡¥s new residential quarters in recent years.Swimming pools and other sports facilities are loved by many home buyers and many real estate developers see them good points to raise home prices.

However,most of such pools are designed by unprofessional designers and have quality problems,experts said.

A main problem is substandard or insufficient water treatment system,they said.Lacking necessary estimate of a daily volume of visitors,many designers and builders add water purifying facilities far from enough to the pools.Thus the swimming environment could be very unhealthy.

The city needs to pay more attention to improve the quality of such small pools and an urgent training of professional designers is the way out,experts said.
