Manjusri's Hair Dagoba at Tayuan Temple in Wutai of Shanxi Province
At the back of the Abbot's Courtyard at Tayuan Temple stands a white Lamaist dagoba of six meters high.

According to legend Bodhisattva Manjusri, disguised himself as a poor woman, went to Mount Wutai in the Northern Wei Dynasty. He granted the temple some of his hair, then lept into the air and returned to his original self. Frightened, the monks in the temple all fell to their knees and kowtowed to show their respect. Later they built a dagoba for Manjusri's hair which they regarded as black relies. The dagoba underwent repairs during the reign of Emperor Wanli (1573-1619) of the Ming Dynasty.
