Sanfeng Temple Pagoda in Chang1e of Fujian Province
Located on the mountaintop southeast of the county town of Changle, the pagoda was built in 1112 during the Northern Song Dynasty. Following the style of wooden structures, this octagonal stone pagoda, seven-storeyed, is 27.4 meters high. Carved on every storey of its body are exquisite relief images of apsarases, musicians and figures from Buddhist stories. The two hundred seated statues of Buddha carved on the pagoda from the first to the sixth storeys are representative work of art in the Song Dynasty style and are highly valuable.
