The Sixth Mekong Tourism Forum will be held from March 3 to April 2 in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.
The forum is to be jointly organized by the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, the Asian Development Bank, the Pacific-Asia Travel Association, the National Tourism Administration of China and the People's Government of Yunnan.
During the forum, experts from countries where the Mekong River runs through and from Europe, the United States and Australia will concentrate on such topics as immigration procedures, environment-friendly tourism and training of tourist guides.
The 4,661-km Mekong River, dubbed "the Danube of the East," runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam. The 2,160-km section in China is known as the Lancang River, which traverses southwest China’s Yunnan Province for more than 1,000 kilometers.
