Hong Kong will launch a large- scale tourist project entitled City of Life: Hong Kong is it! on April 1, the Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) announced Monday.
The project, which will last until March 2003, is aimed to enhance Hong Kong's international reputation as one of the world's most popular tourism destinations and boosting domestic tourism as well, said HKTA Chairman Selina Chow.
A series of activities will be held throughout the 18 districts of Hong Kong, including Hong Kong Lights Up during Christmas and the New Year period, an International Tourism Parade held on the first day of the Chinese New Year, the Hong Kong Flower Extravaganza in spring next year and a large-scale outdoor party, the City of Life Street Carnival, in early 2003.
Each district has been allocated its own spotlight month between September 2001 and February 2003.
The project is estimated to cost 240 million HK dollars (30.8 million US dollars).
