A new search engine yadao.com was launched yesterday by 163.com. The company's CEO Ding Lei expected that the new website would become the No. 1 search engine within three years.
Over 100 technicians created Youdao within a period of two and a half years. Ding said, "Costs of users' change of search engines are very low. If we provide better services, we will have many customers. They never refuse better products."
Ding admitted the dominance of Baidu.com among Chinese search engines. But he also pointed out that Baidu has not met with any competent competitors.
China's search engine market has not fully developed. Only 10 percent of Chinese enterprises have their own websites. Wang Zhansheng, CFO of Baidu.com commented that the future market is able to support more new search engine companies.
