Last year the national online games independently developed by Chinese demonstrated strong competitive advantages. According to the 2007 Report on Chinese Games Industry, self-developed national online game sales have reached 6.88 billion yuan, accounting for 65.1 percent of the total revenue generated from the online game markets, a sharp rise of 62.2 percent in comparison with the same period last year. The increased revenue alone in 2007 surpassed the total revenue of 2006.
Kou Xiaowei, deputy director general of the Audio Visual-Electronic and Internet Publishing Department of the General Administration of Press, disclosed that "Made in China online games" have been warmly welcomed in international markets.
Currently 12 game enterprises have developed overseas markets. They have exported 28 self-developed online games to 20 countries and regions, generating total revenues of over US$55 million in 2007.
